Data Manager and Epidemiologist

The DoD central epidemiological resource and a global health surveillance proponent for the U.S. Armed Forces provide timely, relevant, actionable, and comprehensive health surveillance information. The mission is to promote, maintain, and enhance the health of military and military-associated populations.

Location: Aberdeen Maryland

Responsabilities

Organizes, manages, and maintains multiple large, longitudinal datasets for the purpose of supporting U.S Army and the DoD PH surveillance projects. Identifies, characterizes, and tracks all disease events of concern to the DoD. Knowledge of and trained in the use of appropriate safeguards for data containing Personally Identifiable Information (PII)/Protected Health Information (PHI) including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Privacy Act, etc. Ability to communicate and translate functional requirements into technical requirements for the purpose of data acquisition and storage. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

MPH, MS (Epidemiology, Biostatistics). Experience in the systematic cleaning of large healthcare and demographic datasets with skills in identifying inconsistencies and errors in the data. Also experience in using SAS and/or other statistical software. This position will require a Secret clearance.
