Epidemiologist

The DoD central epidemiological resource and a global health surveillance proponent for the U.S. Armed Forces provide timely, relevant, actionable, and comprehensive health surveillance information. The mission is to promote, maintain, and enhance the health of military and military-associated populations.

Responsabilities

Rapidly identifies, characterizes, localizes, and tracks all biological events of concern to the DoD. This includes integrating and analyzing data relating to human health, animal, plant, food, water, and environmental domains. Proficient in current version of epidemiologic surveillance software (i.e. SAS and R, Microsoft Office Suite) for analysis. Integrates this information into concise informational products for an audience of DoD and interagency partners. Serves as liaison with other sections, CCMDs, Services, and interagency partners. One of these epidemiologists will serve as a back-up to Geographic Information Specialist and must possess knowledge and experience in GIS design, build, and support.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in PH or related biosurveillance discipline, such as emergency management and minimum of 2 years PH experience. GIS back-up must also possess proficiency with GIS mapping software. One of these positions would require an TS clearance (SCI eligible). Five of these positions will require an active Secret clearance.
