Laboratory Systems Officer

The DoD central epidemiological resource and a global health surveillance proponent for the U.S. Armed Forces provide timely, relevant, actionable, and comprehensive health surveillance information. The mission is to promote, maintain, and enhance the health of military and military-associated populations.

Responsabilities

Serves as SME on infectious disease testing, clinical laboratory testing, lab quality, biological safety and regulatory requirements. Maintains awareness of DoD and non-DoD laboratory capabilities and FDA cleared assays for infectious disease of military relevance and emerging threats of concern. Promotes common interests of the Agency related to laboratory practices within DoD and with other federal agencies leading to establishment of fruitful collaborations and partnerships, leveraging and building appropriate relationships. Makes recommendations regarding the standardization of laboratory data within the DoD.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology with American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or equivalent as well as postgraduate training and experience in clinical laboratory science with an emphasis in microbiology, infectious diseases, or public health. Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
